conf t ip domain-lookup
And maybe: ip name-server w.x.y.z
strange issue: if you don\'t have any ip address on any of the interfaces on the router, ping will give this error. In my scenario, i have one s0/0 connected via serial (frame relay encap) to other router and one f0/0 with no ip address. In Frame Relay i have to say \"npo ip address\" and then FR MAP IP X.X.X.X IP DLCI . I was trying to ping the other side of the FR when this came... so, long story short, give any dummy ip to one of the interfaces and the ping will start working.... hope this helps agoghuman@yahoo.com
I have got the same error. I tried answer 4 suggested soluiton: "give any dummy ip to one of the interfaces and the ping will start working" It works. thank you all,
there is no ip address typed into the interface your internet is entering the router
I've also observed this when I configured IP addresses on two interfaces that were bridge no none on the BVI. Once I removed the two IP addresses on the physical interface and assigned one to the BVI, it worked.
