ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("classpath:applicationContext.xml");

Try this:

ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext(\"file:web/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml\");

Seems like you can also get this mixing Spring Boot into a non-Spring Boot project. See error #5931
