Error added: 2009-10-15T11:31:38Z
Had the same error, choppy playback in VLC. Went to TOOLS --> PREFERENCES. Checked SHOW SETTINGS: "ALL" box. Under AUDIO, OUTPUT MODULES, Selected AUTOMATIC from drop down menu. Pretty sure that's what fixed it, though I messed with volume and a few others under the AUDIO section. "When in doubt, mess with it." Cheers!
